Privacy policy
Last updated : August 9, 2026
1. Introduction
This privacy policy defines the conditions under which personal data is processed, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It specifies the nature of the collected data, its purposes and user rights.
2. Data Collection
To guarantee strict user anonymity, the Speedix application requires no name, email address or phone number. Its operation is based on a unique technical identifier, specific to each installation.
The data collected is limited to the following elements:
- Installation identifier: Anonymous technical data used to link preferences and reports to the device.
- Location data (GPS): Geographic position recorded during interactions (reports, zone or incident verifications, zone exits). The collection of this data is strictly subject to the user's prior consent.
- Technical usage data: Device model, operating system version, app settings and basic telemetry of interactions (intended for technical optimization).
- Technical error reports: When a technical error occurs in the application, a report is sent automatically. It contains the nature of the error and its technical trace, the app version, the platform, the device model and operating system version, and the installation identifier. It contains no personal data and no location data.
3. Legal Basis and Consent (GDPR)
In accordance with European regulations, the collection of your location data is based on your free and informed consent.
Users are invited to accept or refuse GPS data collection when using Speedix. In the event of refusal, service access remains available, but no positioning coordinates are recorded. Choices regarding consent are logged for compliance verification purposes.
The processing of the installation identifier and technical usage data is based on the publisher's legitimate interest, namely operating the service, assessing the reliability of reports and maintaining application quality. These processing activities never allow the user to be identified as an individual.
4. Use of Data
The processed data is exclusively used to:
- Provide and improve the reliability of real-time zone and traffic incident alerts for the benefit of the community.
- Technically evaluate the reliability of reports sent by the user.
- Perform corrective maintenance and optimize application performance.
Non-commercialisation commitment: Collected data is under no circumstances sold, rented, exchanged or transferred to third parties. It remains strictly confidential and is reserved solely for the operation of the Speedix application.
5. Retention Period
Data is not retained indefinitely in a form that allows a device to be identified.
- Link between a report and the installation identifier: automatically deleted after 24 months. Beyond that point the report remains in the community database but becomes permanently anonymous.
- Installation identifier and preferences: retained for as long as the app remains installed, then deleted at the user's request.
- Consent records: retained for the period required to demonstrate compliance of the processing.
- Technical error reports: retained for 6 months on our own infrastructure, then deleted automatically.
Exercising the right to erasure deletes these links immediately, without waiting for the 24-month term.
6. Protection and Security
Rigorous technical and organizational security measures are deployed to protect data against unauthorized access. The design of the system itself (based on an anonymous identifier rather than a civil identity) guarantees privacy protection by design.
7. Your Rights
In accordance with the GDPR, users retain absolute control over their data and may exercise the following rights:
- Right of access: Obtain all data linked to the installation identifier.
- Right to erasure: Permanent and irreversible deletion of all recorded data.
- Right to withdraw consent: Revoke authorization for GPS processing at any time via the app settings.
- Right to rectification: Correction of inaccurate data associated with the installation identifier.
- Right to restriction of processing: Temporary suspension of the use of the data.
- Right to object: Objection to processing based on the publisher's legitimate interest.
- Right to data portability: Retrieval of the data in a structured, machine-readable format.
To simplify the exercise of these rights, the Speedix app integrates direct controls to initiate a Consultation or Deletion request in one click.
Any user who considers that the processing of their data infringes the GDPR is further entitled to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in France, the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL), www.cnil.fr.
